Culture
Nairobi was first known as nyrobi by the white settelrs a hundered or so years ago (a term given by the maasai tribe). The town was built as a result of the railway and is now the capital city of Kenya. Nairobi sits on a vast plataue above the rift valley and this makes its summers(oct-mar) hot and winters mild. it has a large international community and has a relativey stable economy. Tourism is one of the largest industries in Kenya and thus your ever need can be catered for. Nairobi is also probably one of the only city's in the world that has a National Park within its outer regions. The city has alot to offer in terms of entertainment and oe would always find plenty to do.

MOMBASA

Maasai Tribe
Paradise
Mombasa is about a six hour car journey from Nairobi and a twelve hour journey by train. The trains that were in use in the early part of last century are still in use. Mombasa is a predominantly muslim town. Its settelers are decendants of Oman and the town has diveded itself in two. Those for the tourist and those for the locals. Mombasa has a delightful contrastwith old town and Nyali, being the two distict variables. You can see Fort Jesus in old town, with its narrow cobbeled strrts and old houses dating back 400 years. A rich mix of middle eatern and portuguses architect, makes this a town not to be foregotten. Across the bridge are the famous beaches of Mombasa, whether it will be south or north coast. The beaches and the Hotels on the beaches give the tourist the best of both worlds. It mixes culture with modernism and comes up with a rich and diverese town

MALINDI

Maasai Tribe
Exotic
Malindi is a coastal town, not far from Mombasa. It is a town, not unlike Mombasa, although on a smaller scale. The town is smaller and much more private and quite then Mombasa is. A few days here and you can forget about the daily stress that can make life.

KENYA'S NATIONAL PARKS

Maasai Tribe
Beauty

Kenya has spent millions of dollars in perserving its wildelife. After the ivory ban in the mid eighties, conservation efforts were put in place fast. The results have been slow yet proggresive. The elephant population has risen exponentially and is no longer an endagered species, but a preserved one. Whilst the rhino population is still suffering from the aftermath of the ivory trade. Kenya's park's are home to some 1500 species of flora and fauna.

The biggest attraction for any traveller in to Kenya is the 'big five'. This game group consits of Lion, Rhino, Elephant, Buffalo and Leopard. If you see them all then cosider youself lucky. However the Game Wardens will ensure that you get to view all the 'big five'.
